Under current arrangements, Chatham Maritime Trust, which is responsible for the management and maintenance of the public areas within the Chatham Maritime area have been invited to put forward a proposal for the management of the freehold areas. Other parties may also be invited to make bids.
Due to its experience in the stewardship of the Mast Slip, Medway RNSA seeks the opportunity to take on responsibility for ensuring the requirement to provide safe, yet active, riverside open space for the wider community by establishing a maritime community centre for educational and recreational purposes.
Were the RNSA to be successful in securing the sub-tenancy of the area, we would seek funding to develop a state-of-the-art maritime centre, which would allow community organisations to have modern facilities from which they could gain access the river and enjoy it as a public resource.
